Is Nicklaus record safe

This weekend I was watching the World Golf Championships at Firestone and was thinking about the future of Tiger Woods and it made me think that perhaps he won’t pass Jack Nicklaus’s record and that perhaps this is a good thing. Tiger has already broken most golfing records and I think Nicklaus should keep the record for the number of majors won.
Tiger has played against a relatively weak field of golfers and very few would compare the likes of Mickleson, Westwood, Stricker, Duval, and Montgomerie to players like Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson, Lee Trevino, Gary Player and the great Seve Ballesteros. Nicklaus picked up major victories over a twenty four year period playing against some of the other greats of the game from different generations. Tiger annihilated the golfing world between 1997 and 2008 winning 14 majors but has rarely had to play against players of the calibre of those Nicklaus regularly beat.
If you look at the all time record for majors won and you seen that Player has 9, Watson 8, Palmer 7, Trevino 6, and Ballesteros 5 whereas Tiger’s closest competitor in modern times is Phil Mickleson who has won only 4 majors. Whilst Mickleson may have won more if he was playing in a different era he would have struggled in the era that Nicklaus, Palmer, Player and Watson dominated.
Anyway, that was just a thought that came to me in between watching the golf and playing poker. My online rake back poker went pretty well with a number of tournaments all reaching the late stages and my cash games delivering some steady returns. It wasn’t smooth throughout but I ended up on every cash game table I started and that hasn’t happened for a while.
My rakeback payment also came in recently so that is why I have been playing MTTs. The rakeback pokerbonus is always a good time of the month for my bankroll as it comes as a large lump sum and boosts my bankroll enormously. I always then fire up a load of MTTs to try and parlay it into a big score. Probably not the most profitable thing to do with it but I’m pretty happy overall.
